T.X. Troan is an award-winning Canadian fantasy author and illustrator whose books have sold thousands of copies around the world.
He is best known for creating the Sophia Freeman series, a five-book fantasy adventure named the Best Fantasy Book Series in British Columbia (2026). A story idea during a trip to Gabriola Island, British Columbia, in the summer of 2013 turned into a thirteen-year journey that produced multiple novels and children’s books.

Troan is a lifelong lover of fantasy and adventure and loves writing stories that explore themes of friendship, courage, sacrifice, and the extraordinary possibilities hidden within ordinary people. His work is inspired by the wonder of finding new worlds and the belief that imagination can change lives.
Troan writes under the pen name T.X. Troan. “X” is a tribute to his grandmother, Xu, and “Troan” is a combination of his parents’ names. Through his writing and illustrations, he hopes to craft stories that entertain, inspire and make a lasting impact on readers.
When not writing or illustrating, Troan enjoys hiking, hanging out with family and friends, and exploring the natural landscape that often inspires ideas for future adventures.
He now lives in Canada and works on his next fantasy novel.
